Well, one of them is - John Wiley & Sons. And there are a few of Pearson's imprints listed. But if you're looking for O'Reilly Media or Microsoft Press, the third and fourth largest publishers of books on technology - forget it. Most of Pearson's imprints are missing as well - and Pearson is the number one largest publisher in our field.
Why aren't they in there? According to my source, the folks who make those decisions at Writers Digest books don't believe the market is big enough. So, my dear colleagues, we are on our own. I'll do my best to inform you about these markets here in this blog, and, if I can find an interested technology publisher, will try to get a resource for writers published. Stay tuned.
In the meantime, check out Studio B. They're the leading literary agents for technology publishers, and if you have an idea for a new book on XML Hacks, for example, I'm sure they'd love to hear from you.
