About 30 days ago I sent a query letter for a feature article on the Top 10 technology markets to The Writer magazine. Yesterday, the Managing Editor e-mailed me with the assignment! I'm so pleased, because this is a magazine that I have a long history with.

Many years ago, when I was in my teens, I would often read this magazine at whatever bookstore I found myself in, hoping to find the one article or bit of advice that would help me break into writing as a profession. I found lots of interesting stuff, and while it didn't translate into immediate sales, it helped me keep the dream alive.

Now that I'm writing professionally, it seems like the completion of a cycle to have my work purchased by that same magazine so many years later.
