I'm Stuart Mudie, a freelance writer and editor based in Paris, France.
I've been a
professional communicator since 1995, and I've worked with a number of companies in the IT and Telecommunications sectors in that time. A common thread through all my work has been the desire to help render complex technical ideas more understandable for non-specialist audiences.
Along the way, this has seen me produce a range of user documentation for both administrators and end-users alike, as well as creating technical marketing collateral such as websites, product brochures and white papers. I believe that the best marketing material also educates, and the best user documentation also helps sell the product. In all my technical writing, I try to do both.
Right now, I'm hard at work on my contribution to
The Unofficial Guide to Windows Vista, a book that is scheduled to be published by Wiley towards the end of 2006 and for which I am one of the co-authors.
My personal blog, which has been online since 2001, is
Blethers.com.
I've been a reader of SmartTechWriting almost since the site was launched, and I'm very much looking forward to sharing my thoughts on technical writing and other surrounding areas with you here. It should be fun.
finally! a partner-in-crime! :) welcome Stuart and make yourself at home.
