A project I did for a real estate resort required me to do the website content, featuring everything from the master plan down to the amenities and block sizes. I specifically wanted to do the initial draft with just the barebone knowledge of the area. Then, after submitting an initial draft, I asked the marketing guy to give me a tour of the resort development.
To see is to believe I guess, and somehow, my preconceived notions of the place merged with my experiential unfoldings to come up with something much much better.
Of course, others can go straight to "seeing anbd believing" - there's no harm in that. I'm just offering an off tangent technique to getting things done. Hope it works for you.
What's the disadvantage? If what you conceived in your hard is way better than the product itself. In which case, happy copywriting!
