If its one of the things I look for in manuals and online articles (especially those in the realm of technology) it is the date stamp.

For stuff online, sometimes I have to try and guess the date by looking at the permalink structure if the site's front end has failed in showing one. This holds true for archives - of all things.

Make dates prominent in manuals and websites. They really give consumers a good idea how old that product is before it made shipment plus if your product needs to be upgraded (yay firmware!) it would be easy to have a point of reference of your product's timeline.
