Author Robert Masello advises we burn our journals for creative inspiration. One advice that was given to me a long time ago was to bring a small journal that acted as a toilet to deposit my mental diarrhea. When the digital age came, I started using a PDA and scribbled notes on the digitized notepad.
I'd come home and review my messages and contrary to mental diarrhea, I'd encounter a "thought consipation" of not being able to make out the stuff I jotted down throughout the day, week or month.
As writers, we write. We should avoid constipating our thoughts for the next day. We don't have that luxury.
