
The savvy media personality of today goes one step further. He or she should consider getting involved – if not already – in an additional medium that has almost no borders: Blogging in the Internet. Such a person would then be a Quad-Media personality.
Situations where military or autocratic rule prevent free expression find their outlet more often than not in the Internet. Even efforts to minimize access to the Net or to control it do not always work, given the increasing ability of the new techies to confound the authorities.
Thus, the fourth leg in our quadrangle of media outlets will surely turn into the most potent over the longer term. In some countries, Radio is still the most prolific medium of communication. But as computers become an everyday commodity available to all households, the use of the Net to get News and Ideas across will become a tsunami that will overwhelm artificial barriers to information.
