
As for me, I have two computers. When writing from my desktop I usually have a big bowl of cereal beside me. I think the sugar rush does me good. When I'm on my iBook, I'm usually out in the den (we have WiFi at home) also with a big bowl of cereal.
I tend to not want to have any ambient sounds such as the television or the speakers turned up. I dunno. Maybe I just get easily distracted.






Yeah, I find sound distracting too. I can't listen to music while I write or edit--I find myself paying attention to the music too closely (part of my musicology training I guess). I usually rotate through water, coffee, and tea while I'm working. That's about as much multitasking as I can do. Even if I need to accomplish three things at once, I usually pay attention to only one at a time.
