In the West, appreciation of the opposite sex, or in this case, Women, is so much more forthcoming and over the table. In the East, the approach to women can be likened to a series of indirect and oblique moves. It’s a wonder that the target ever gets hit! But yes, in Asia, direct moves are not always appreciated, except perhaps by those educated or influenced by the West.

A woman sitting alone in a bar or hotel lobby is like a target with a big X written all over her as far as Westerners are concerned. In the East, one considers that said maiden may be waiting for her loved one, or may simply wish to be left alone. So many things must be considered, so that a direct approach generally ends up in disaster.

There is no sure-fire formula for dealing with situations like these. But caution should never be thrown to the wind, either in a real-life situation or even in a blog site where people who don’t know each other meet every day.

One should always assume that the person at the other end is a decent human being seeking friendship and nothing else. If anything else develops, this should be over time and the product of a slow process of getting to know one another.
