One of the best pieces of advice given to me by a writer friend was to not set a schedule for ideas to flow. Don't tell yourself that
"on Sunday I will drive to a coffee shop and sit down. I will order a nice tall espesso and open my moleskin and then brainstorm for my next big book."As a writer, you have to be sensitive to the weird times ideas come in - while taking that odd route home, while eating a bagel you didn't enjoy, by waiting for your friend to finish using the toilet.
Contrary to popular belief, ideas don't flow. They trickle. But look at the drops!
