These two words are easily mixed up in usage. Their meanings are close, but there are subtle differences. When one is referred to as being AMORAL, he or she is said not to be accepting of any moral standard by which his/ her actions should be judged. A simpler way of putting it is that an AMORAL person really doesn’t care about Right or Wrong in what he / she thinks, says, or does.
An IMMORAL person, on the other hand, is usually what society deems to be a “Bad” or “Wicked” person who fails to adhere to or follow accepted moral standards. Example: Jane’s act of infidelity was considered immoral by her circle of friends. However, being an amoral person, Jane didn’t really care about what her friends thought.
