During the four or five days that we lost power and the ability to communicate – except for the occasional text when we would dare turn our cellphones on – it was fairly easy to contemplate what life would be like in a world without power or modern technology.

We seem to take technology and its attendant benefits for granted these days. It is easy to forget that, barely a decade ago, cellphones were a luxury and the internet was a gawky and clumsy appendage that one still had to master and use. Now, the internet makes life so much easier, brings communications costs down, and changes the very way we think and live.

Having been schooled in the classical way of doing business, it is jarring to think of having to master yet a new medium: the internet. And in the internet, the blog is turning out to be yet another masterful tool that can move or define markets if utilized properly.
