Without rendering judgment on anyone’s beliefs, it may be useful to distinguish between the two words AGNOSTIC and ATHEIST.

Usually, an AGNOSTIC is one who is not sure if God exists. Furthermore, many Agnostics tend to believe that such a superior being, if he / she / it exists, would be too immense to properly assimilate or appreciate.

The ATHEIST, on the other hand, believes that God does not exist, and usually explains most phenomena in scientific or material terms. A rather simplistic way of looking at it would be: If I can’t see it or explain it in scientific terms, it doesn’t exist.

It is important to get the distinction between these two terms correct, because improper use, especially in the written medium where one leaves a paper trail or electronic footprint, could result in a beehive of protests from offended parties.
