The two words, CALVARY and CAVALRY are so similar in spelling that ordinary Spell-Checks would not flash the Red Alarm if either was to be used in the wrong context. Thus, it is advisable to simple check any written communication for blunders like this that would otherwise pass scrutiny.

The word CAVALRY usually applies to a group of mounted soldiers. In the old days, these mounts were mostly horses. In more modern times, the modern cavalry is made up of a combination of tracked and wheeled vehicles (mostly armored), backed up by helicopters, transport, and attack aircraft.

CALVARY is a place in Jerusalem said to be the place of crucifixion of Jesus Christ, acknowledged by Christians as the Messiah. Calvary is also known as Golgotha, or the Place of Skull, said to be above the site where the skull of Adam is buried.
