I came from an editorial meeting to plan out some items for the 2007 editorial calendar of the publishing company I write for. Although we weren't able to touch base on the entire calendar (since a lot of people were not present) we were able to do a "meeting to plan the next meeting" - a business folly if you call it, yet still enjoyable because it was basically an excuse to meet up and ask questions like "so how's the wife and kids?" and such.
One of the small topics that was brought up was article writing requests from the editorial assistamt - if we could chop up our articles into more paragraph blocks so that it could be easier to layout. From a writer's level, this may not make sense but from a publisher's level it does - because word count and image sizes are always being balanced out to create the perfect layout. If articles were chopped off into blocks, they can easily be edited to fit sidebars and moved around at whim.
